The Kerala government has suspended Kerala Assembly Chief Protocol Officer R Sreekumar pending investigation into the charge of not ensuring Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan’s air travel schedule from New Delhi to Kannur on Saturday.
When Mr. Vijayan arrived at New Delhi airport, he learned that the flight the protocol office had booked for him had already departed. Mr. Vijayan was stranded at the airport for several hours and had to take another late flight back home to Kannur.
Kerala House Additional Resident Commissioner Aswathi Sreenivas conducted a preliminary inquiry and informed the State government that she had found a failure to properly communicate with Mr. Sreekumar’s airline to ensure smooth air travel for Mr. Vijayan.
The Opposition Leader’s office said Mr Vijayan had not made any formal complaint regarding the delay at the airport.
