Kerry Katona reveals her daughter Dylan-Jorge, 12, is ‘absolutely gutted’ as she is forced to enrol in state school after her private one shuts down

Kerry Katona has revealed she is ‘absolutely gutted’ after her daughter Dylan-Jorge was forced to move to a state school.

The Atomic Kitten star had previously paid to send her daughter to private school, but moved her to another school after it was closed.

In a new interview, Kerry shared that Dylan-Jorge was primarily bothered by the fact that summer breaks at public schools are much shorter than at private schools, where students typically leave in early July.

The mother-of-five has continued to blast schools for giving children ‘too much’ homework during the holidays.

He said: ‘The DJ is on summer holiday. He was completely devastated because his private school closed, so I put him in a public school.

‘Previously he could get around 12 weeks off, now he’s in shock as he only gets half that.’

He continued to tell Mirror: ‘I love when the holidays come. At school, hands are raised to ask questions, hands are raised to go to the toilet.

‘Then, after putting my child in class for six hours a day, they send him home with his homework. I think this is bullshit!’

Kerry shares DJ status with her late husband George Kay, who died in 2019. She also shares daughters Molly, 24, and Lilly-Sue, 23, with former Westlife singer Brian McFadden, and son Heidi, 19, and son Max, 18, with ex-husband Mark Croft.

The star previously shared that she refused to pay for Heidi to attend a private sixth form because she ‘hated’ it and couldn’t decide what to do with her future.

He said: ‘He wanted to continue his education in the sixth form of a private school but I refuse to pay for it because he is not getting enough education at school as it is and he hates it.

‘It would have been different if she had decided she wanted to go to drama school; I’d pay for it because he’s a natural star and he’s really good.’

It comes after Kerry also opened up about her battle with debilitating ‘chronic pain’, sharing how her body was ‘completely shutting down’.

The TV personality was previously diagnosed with ulcerative colitis last February and arthritis in 2021, but has now shared that her body is “completely shutting down.”

Kerry previously revealed she would undergo surgery after being diagnosed with arthritis in her shoulders and a protruding disc in her back, and five years later the star shared that she was still struggling with crippling pain.

The star added that she was waiting for the results of a full health examination to reach the root cause and that she was afraid ‘her body had become so fragile’.

Kerry said: ‘I’ll be honest, I’m still feeling pretty good at the moment. I have been living with chronic pain for years, but recently there have been multiple incidents where my body has completely shut down.

‘I know I’m overdoing this and not giving myself enough time, but it was still really scary and sobering to think about how fragile our bodies are.’

He writes in his column for the new! magazine, the star said that in addition to her medical examination, she sought help from an osteopath for her ‘crooked’ spine.
