KIADB To Develop First Phase of Kalaburagi PM MITRA Textile Park: MB Patil

Kalaburagi: The first phase of Karnataka’s proposed PM MITRA Textile Park in Kalaburagi will be executed through the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), Minister for Large and Medium Industries MB Patil said after holding a high-level review meeting on Friday.
Kalaburagi district minister Priyank Kharge, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh and senior officials from various departments attended the meeting held at Vidhana Soudha.
After the meeting, Patil said the government has decided to immediately prepare a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) by including provisions regarding external infrastructure related to the mega textile project. The report will then be forwarded to the Project Approval Committee of the Union government for further approval.
He said instructions have already been given to the Handlooms and Textiles Department to expedite the process.
The Minister also stated that discussions were held on initiating land allocation processes within the textile park through KIADB and developing internal infrastructure facilities as soon as possible.
“Under the Central Government’s Development Support Scheme, the textile park will be given a subsidy of Rs 500 billion. This amount will be used for development of roads, water supply facilities, wastewater treatment plants and hostels within the park,” he added.
Patil noted that the textile park is expected to make a major contribution to industrial growth and employment creation in the region. He said the state implementing agency needs to spend at least Rs 25 billion towards infrastructure development for the project and during the meeting, officials were instructed to start the process as soon as possible.
Principal Secretary of Industries Department S Selvakumar, Textiles Secretary Rohini Sindhuri, KSIIDC Managing Director Khushbu Goel, Textiles Commissioner KB Basavaraju and KIADB CEO Govinda Reddy were present in the meeting.
