Kier Starmer LIVE – Prime Minister battles for his political life | UK | News

Amid allegations that the Prime Minister misled parliament about the Lord Mandelson review scandal, rival parties are pressing Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle to refer Sir Keir Starmer to a formal indecency inquiry.
Kemi Badenoch is leading the effort to send Starmer before the privileges committee, which ended his political career after concluding Boris Johnson deceived the Commons about lockdown parties. The Conservative leader has received support from his Liberal Democrat and SNP counterparts, who have separately lobbied for Hoyle to take action.
At the heart of Badenoch’s case is Starmer’s claim that “due process” was followed when Mandelson was appointed as US ambassador in 2024. This claim dovetails oddly with the fact that Simon Case – then cabinet secretary and now Lord Case – publicly advised Starmer to complete his vetting before any announcement was made. The Prime Minister continued regardless.
