King Charles blow as half of Brits want US state visit to be cancelled | Royal | News

Almost half of Britons think it would be best for King Charles to cancel a state visit to the US amid conflict in the Middle East, a new poll has found. The King and Queen will travel across the pond in late April to celebrate the 250th anniversary of US independence.

According to Buckingham Palace, the visit aims to celebrate “historic links and modern bilateral relations between the UK and the US”. Charles will then travel to Bermuda for his first visit as monarch to a British Overseas Territory.

Now a new poll has shown how the public really feels about the visit in just a few days.

New survey from YouGov Times It was revealed that almost half (45%) of Brits think the visit should be cancelled.

Four in 10 (42%) believe the trip should go ahead, while majorities of Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green voters think it should not happen.

40 percent of those polled said the King should not have met Jeffrey Epstein’s victims while he was there, while 35 percent said he should have.

US President Donald Trump has sparked criticism after appearing to target Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, branding him “no Winston Churchill” and accusing him of “wanting to join wars after we’ve already won them”.

Britain initially refused to allow the US to use its bases to attack Iran, then agreed to use these bases as “defensive” missiles against Iran’s missile launch sites.

Royal Air Force aircraft were also used to intercept Iranian drones and missiles.
