King Charles set to visit US in 2026: report

England’s King Charles and the Prince of Wales will reportedly visit the United States in 2026 as negotiations on Britain’s trade deal with America continue.
Advanced discussions regarding the King’s visit are said to be ongoing, with William likely to make a separate visit during the FIFA World Cup later in the year, The Times reported.
The visits will coincide with the 250th anniversary of the signing of the US declaration of independence from Britain and will be the first by a British monarch since 2007.
But the development could also come as the UK continues its efforts to finalize a trade deal with the US, with Washington reportedly pausing the technology partnership announced during President Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK in September.
Earlier in December, the UK government said it was still in “active talks” with the US over a technology deal.
Reports have suggested that US negotiators are frustrated by slow progress in agreeing a broader trade deal announced in May 2025, in which Britain avoids Trump’s 20 per cent tariffs on the rest of the world.
Britain’s digital services tax, which is opposed by Trump’s big tech backers, and the sensitive issue of giving US farmers greater access to British markets are thought to be the key sticking points.
The Times suggested that the King’s visit to the USA could take place in April.
Football Federation president William will then be able to visit during the World Cup, which will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico between June and July.
