Marjorie Taylor Greene resigns from Congress

Marjorie Taylor Greene will resign from Congress at the beginning of 2026 following her split from longtime ally Donald Trump.
In her lengthy statement and 10-minute video, she branded the president ‘hateful’ for his decision to withdraw his support for her; It was a move that led him to view the Georgia lawmaker as a ‘crazy lunatic.’
He said it would be unfair for his “sweet little district” to “endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we all fought for,” and even added that “Republicans will probably lose the midterms.”
Greene explained her decision and said she was ‘always underrated in Washington D.C. and never fit in.’
The Georgia Republican also said he left to spend more time with his family and because he was disgusted with the process of working in Washington and facing constant death threats.
She expressed disgust after ‘defending American women who were raped at the age of 14, trafficked and used by rich, powerful men should not result in me being called a traitor and threatened by the President of the United States for whom I fought.’
He said his last day will be January 5, 2026.
The Daily Mail has reached out to the White House for comment.
In a shock move following a tumultuous year in which she broke away from longtime ally Donald Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene announced she will resign from Congress at the beginning of 2026.
The Georgia Republican also said he left to spend more time with his family and because he was disgusted with his work process in Washington and faced constant death threats.
Greene expressed deep disappointment that her own party is running for the presidency in 2025 and controls both houses of Congress but can’t do anything.
“Almost a year has passed since our majority, the legislature has been mostly out of action, we have wrongfully endured an eight-week shutdown that resulted in the House of Representatives not working for the entire period, and we are entering campaign season which means all courage is gone and only safe campaign re-election mode is turned on,” he said.
With Trump yet to respond, Greene received praise from conservative journalist and longtime boyfriend Brian Glenn.
‘You never let the political industrial complex break you. “Thank you for fighting against America,” he wrote.
Fellow Republican insurgent Thomas Massie, who has suffered the brunt of Trump’s criticism, was similarly gracious.
‘I’m so sorry for our country, but I’m also so happy for my friend Marjorie. I will miss him very much. He embodies what a true Representative should be. Everyone should read his statement; ‘There is more honesty expressed in these four pages than most politicians will speak in their lifetime.’
This comes just a week after a social media spat with Trump sparked a split in the MAGA base.
Greene and Trump feuded on social media on Friday, with Greene sharing screenshots of messages she sent to Trump about the Epstein files.
In his lengthy statement and 10-minute video, he refers to Trump as ‘hateful’ for potentially supporting his primary opponent, despite his consistent defense of Trump.
At the core of their animosity is the president’s big campaign promise, the release of the Epstein files.
Trump’s failure to deliver on that promise became a rallying cry for Greene and other Republican rebels on Capitol Hill; The duo’s harsh sarcasm on social media came to a head on Friday.
The president, who has long said he cut off Epstein’s contact decades ago and did nothing wrong, announced his vehement “disapproval” of the Georgia Republican, accusing him of being “left wing.”
But according to Greene, the issue is bigger than Trump; The topic is about ‘America First’, one of the core principles of MAGA.
Trump opened up the controversy, including admitting on Truth Social earlier that evening that he had advised him not to run for the Senate in 2026.
In a brutal post, Trump aired the pair’s dirty laundry, including an admission that he advised her not to run for Senate in 2026.
“I am withdrawing my support and endorsement of ‘Congresswoman’ Marjorie Taylor Greene from the great State of Georgia,” he wrote.
Trump then listed his accomplishments during his nine months in office and then claimed, “All ‘Nutty’ Marjorie does is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN!”
Trump aired the pair’s dirty laundry on Truth Social last Friday, including his admission that he advised him not to run for Senate in 2026
He wrote: ‘It all seemed to start when I sent him a Poll saying he shouldn’t run for Senator or Governor, he was at 12% and had no chance (unless of course he got my Endorsement – which he wasn’t about to get!).’
The president claims she is not returning his calls because he refuses to support her ambitions.
“With 219 Congressmen/women, 53 U.S. Senators, 24 Cabinet Members, almost 200 Countries, and an otherwise normal life, I cannot answer the call of a screaming Madman every day,” Trump said.
He then suggested that Greene should enter the primary in 2026 to retain her deep-red seat in Georgia.
‘I understand that the wonderful Conservative people are considering putting Marjorie first in the District of Georgia, that they are fed up with her and her antics, and that if the right person were to run they would have my Full and Unyielding Support,’ he said.
Trump later claimed that Greene “went far left, even on The View, hating low-IQ Republican Anchors.” Thank you for your interest in this matter.’
Greene responded by sharing screenshots of texts she sent to Trump about the importance of the Epstein files and another person named ‘NH’, an apparent reference to the president’s assistant Natalie Harp.
His text message to Trump advises him to ‘stand by’ former President Bill Clinton’s connections to the billionaire pedophile. Earlier Friday, Trump ordered an investigation into Clinton’s ties to Epstein.
Greene responded by sharing screenshots of texts she sent to Trump about the importance of the Epstein files and another person named ‘NH’, an apparent reference to the president’s assistant Natalie Harp.
‘Check the flight logs of Epstein’s plane. Bill Clinton was there 26 times! And Hillary!! For many of us, releasing the Epstein files has always been about the women who were victims of Jeffrey Epstein, but also because we believed Democratic bad guys like the Clintons were involved and implicated in him,” Greene said in the text.
‘Epstein was the spider who weaved the web of the deep state. “Lean on it,” he advised.
In the second screenshot, Greene responds to a text from ‘NH’ who appears angered by her criticism of Trump, saying:’JEFFREY EPSTEIN FORGERY.’
Greene replies: ‘I have defended President Trump in every interview I have done. I have said many times that the women said he did nothing wrong and that his lawyers said he was the only one who helped. And the Democrats had 4 years to release the files but they did nothing.’
Greene adds: ‘Stop ignoring women. Many literally voted for President Trump and say so openly. It’s not a hoax that they were raped when they were young.
In a lengthy statement about X, Greene explained: ‘[Trump is] It’s hard to follow me, setting an example to scare every other Republican before they vote to release the Epstein files next week. ‘It’s truly surprising that he got to this level, that he fought so hard to prevent the Epstein files from coming out.’
‘But most Americans wish he would fight just as hard to help America’s forgotten men and women, tired of foreign wars and foreign causes, left broke trying to support their families, and lost hope of achieving the American dream. “That’s what I voted for,” he continued.
Greene stated that she gave Trump “way too much of my precious time, too much of my own money, and fought harder for him even when almost all the other Republicans turned their backs and blamed him.”
Greene criticized Trump’s reluctance to release the Epstein files and eventually backed out of doing so.
Greene even referenced Trump’s handling of immigration earlier this week in a post shortly after, tweeting about his support for limiting H1B visas.
‘But I don’t worship or serve Donald Trump. I worship God, Jesus is my savior, and I serve my GA14 district and the American people. Today, I remain the same as I always have been, and I will continue to pray for the success of this administration because the American people desperately deserve what they voted for. For me, I will remain America First and America Only!!!’
In a post shortly after, Greene also touched on Trump’s immigration issue earlier this week, tweeting his support for limiting H1B visas.
As their conflict deepened, Trump branded Greene with two derogatory nicknames of his own on Saturday.
Greene posted on Truth Social shortly after sharing her own measured statement following their online screaming match on Friday.
In it, he branded the Georgia Representative ‘Marjorie Taylor Brown’ and added: ‘Green grass turns Brown when it starts to ROOT!’.
In a subsequent post, he labeled her ‘Marjorie Traitor Greene’ after saying she ‘betrayed the entire Republican Party when she turned left.’
Trump added: ‘Another Fake politician not unlike Rand Paul Jr. (Thomas Massie) who was caught as a full-fledged Republican (RINO)! ‘MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!’
On Sunday, Greeene said she received pipe bomb threats and was the victim of “pizza doxxing” due to Trump’s attacks on her.
“Fake pizza deliveries have now started to my home and family members,” he said Sunday evening. Attached a screenshot explaining the concept of ‘pizza doxxing’.
He added in an update that the construction company’s office had received a pipe bomb threat.
Greene continued to blame the threats on the president.
“President Trump’s unjust and brutal attacks on me were a warning to dangerous radicals who could lead to serious attacks on me and my family,” he said.
