King Charles ‘would very much like’ Andrew to testify before US Congress and is ‘appalled’ by Epstein revelations, says his close friend Jonathan Dimbleby
King Charles “very much wants” his brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to testify before the US Congress, a close friend of the monarch has claimed.
Her Majesty’s brother wanted her to help with investigations into convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, historian and broadcaster Jonathan Dimbleby has claimed.
Dimbleby told BBC Newsnight: “I firmly believe, I can’t say with 100 per cent certainty, but I firmly believe that he would have loved to have seen her stand up and give evidence, but she knew how to stand up and say it was a futile hiding.”
Dimbleby, who has been a close friend of the King for more than 30 years and even wrote his biography, claimed that Charles was horrified by the allegations regarding Andrew.
‘It would be surprising if he wasn’t alarmed and appalled by the allegations and of course also impressed by his role as a monarchy, because that’s what the headlines are all about, you know no institution wants that and that’s what he’s trying to do and he’s doing a phenomenal job as head of state.’
His comments come as pressure continues to mount on Andrew, whose name is included in the newly released Epstein files.
Yesterday, it emerged that police have been called to launch a sex trafficking investigation into Andrew following allegations that a woman was boarded on one of Epstein’s private jets and smuggled into Buckingham Palace using the code name Miss Windsor.
The Epstein Files reveal that the Boeing 727-100 private jet the pedophile used to host sex parties and traffic girls landed in the UK nearly 90 times, including after he was convicted of child sex crimes in 2008.
Jonathan Dimbleby told BBC Newsnight that he believed King Charles wanted Andrew to testify before the US Congress.
She also said Charles was appalled by the allegations regarding Andrew.

Stansted, Britain’s fourth busiest airport, was allegedly used as a hub to transfer victims from one Epstein plane to another.
Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown called it the ‘biggest scandal ever’ and called on Scotland Yard to launch a criminal investigation into the former Duke of York beyond misconduct in public office and breaches of the Official Secrets Act.
‘Even Stansted’s statements require them to interview Andrew. “I have been told privately that the investigations into the former Prince Andrew have not properly checked vital evidence relating to the flights,” he said.
Yesterday, at least one Epstein victim was allegedly flown to England by ship and then taken to Andrew at Buckingham Palace.
The disgraced former Duke of York allegedly told his aides: ‘Miss Windsor will arrive shortly, please let her in and show her off.’
Sources claimed other women would be forced to see him at his late mother and father’s London home with the same coded demands and without any security clearance.
Andrew is linked to four women in the Epstein Files, along with Virginia Giuffre.
The Mail on Sunday revealed this week how Epstein took a young Romanian model to a private dinner at Buckingham Palace with his friend Andrew. Epstein said the royal family thought she was ‘beautiful’, adding: ‘No man looks at your clothes, he sees through them.’

During his trip to London, Andrew also invited Jeffrey Epstein and a ‘charming’ Russian model named Vera to dinner at Buckingham Palace.
Epstein also offered to introduce himself to a 26-year-old Russian woman known as ‘Irina’ in August 2010.
The Epstein Files revealed how many times the pedophilia financier’s private jet landed in the UK.
Flight records show the plane landed at Stansted and Heathrow, as well as quieter, lesser-known airports in the south of England.
