Kishan Reddy Credits Modi for Globalising Yoga

Hyderabad:Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in promoting yoga as India’s invaluable gift to global health and credited him for ensuring that June 21 was recognized by the UN as International Yoga Day in 2014, with the support of over 170 countries. He highlighted initiatives such as corruption-free governance and Swachh Bharat and called for continued awareness from school children to the elderly.

He participated in the 50-day countdown for the 12th IDY organized by Morarji Desai National Yoga Institute of Ayush ministry at Kanha Shanti Vanam in Ranga Reddy district.

In his speech, Reddy emphasized the role of yoga in improving physical fitness, mental balance and discipline amidst modern stresses arising from pollution, chemicals in food and digital lifestyles. He called for yoga to be integrated into every home, school, village and workplace in the state to position Hyderabad as a global yoga hub alongside the IT and pharmaceutical sectors.

Praising Kanha Shanti Vanam as a model of sustainable living and meditation, Reddy thanked Ayush Minister Pratap Rao Jadhav for hosting the event. He said cultural revival, including yoga, Ayurveda and Ram Mandir, will help achieve a healthy, peaceful Viksit Bharat by 2047.
