Kishan Reddy Slams Congress for Splitting GHMC To Boost Majlis in Core Hyderabad Area

Hyderabad: Union minister G. Kishan Reddy accused the Congress of splitting the 150-district Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation into three corporations with a total of 300 divisions to weaken the BJP politically and hand over the core of Hyderabad to MIM. Reddy alleged that Congress, MIM and BRS leaders were prioritizing mutual interests over solving people’s problems.

Speaking to reporters after conducting a ‘basti bata’ outreach campaign with officials in Boudhanagar, Sitaphalmandi, Mettuguda and nearby slums, Reddy accused the Congress government of neglecting basic infrastructure. He said the city was transforming every six months, but the drainage network could not cope with the rapid increase in the number of apartments and people. He said the government has ignored increasing water supply from Godavari River, leaving many districts facing drinking water shortage even before the summer begins.

The Union minister, who is Member of Parliament from Secunderabad, criticized the failure to clear stormwater drains ahead of summer and alleged that contractors were paying their bills before actually completing the work, resulting in bad smells and health risks for residents.

Blaming Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for the communal woes, the minister demanded an urgent meeting with the elected representatives in the city to prepare measures to resolve the pending issues. With the term of the GHMC council expiring, Kishan Reddy called for immediate elections.
