Knifeman who left his victim for dead caught hiding in loft | News

The knife-wielding man who left his victim to die was caught by police hiding under attic insulation.
James Pedley, 41, of Elder Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, was left seriously injured after stabbing his victim multiple times during a fight on October 11, 2025. Pedley then fled the scene.
Nottinghamshire Police officers responded to calls from a witness and found the victim, a man in his 40s, lying on the ground covered in blood.
They were then able to track Pedley to an address in Dalestorth Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, where Kurt Horton and Tracey Hoff lived. It was found hiding under attic insulation and between floor joists.
On Friday, March 27, Pedley was sentenced to a total of 14 years in prison after being found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
Hoff, 37, of Newcastle Street, Huthwaite, and Horton, 34, of Sherwood Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, pleaded guilty to assisting an offender and will be sentenced at a later date.
