Kolkata weather today: IMD predicts rainfall, thunderstorms for ‘City of Joy’ on March 12. Check forecast for full week

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that Kolkata will experience dry weather for the next three days after light rain and thundershowers on March 11 and 12. According to the statement made by the meteorology department, light to moderate rains are expected to start again in Kolkata towards the end of the week.

There is also unlikely to be any significant change in minimum and maximum temperatures in parts of South Bengal in the next seven days.

Kolkata may see partly cloudy skies with the possibility of thunder and lightning today, IMD said. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 32 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Kolkata on March 13 and 14 are expected to be around 33°C and 25°C respectively. It is expected to be accompanied by thunderstorms on March 15 and 16. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 32°C and 24°C respectively.

On March 17, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, with the possibility of thunderstorms and thunderstorms. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 31°C and 24°C respectively.

Parts of West Bengal witnessed changing weather conditions on Tuesday; While very light to moderate rain and gusty winds lashed Purulia in south Bengal, isolated areas of north Bengal also recorded light rainfall. But most parts of the state remained largely dry. Amid choppy conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert warning of possible thunderstorms that may be accompanied by lightning in several parts of north and south Bengal.
IMD has also warned that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning may occur at one or two places in districts like Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Malda and North Dinajpur in the next 48 hours. Residents have been advised to remain vigilant as lightning strikes in open areas remain a potential risk in parts of both north and south Bengal.
