Kollu Ravindra Urges Granite Units to End Strike

Vijayawada: Mines Minister Kollu Ravindra said that the Andhra Pradesh government is offering strong support to the granite cutting and polishing sector and will ensure justice for all stakeholders.

During a meeting with ministers and legislators at the secretariat, Ravindra assured industry representatives in Guntur and Prakasam districts that the government will take proactive steps to resolve the issues without causing any harm to the factories or the administration.

Industry stakeholders expressed concern over the financial burden caused by uniform seigniorage payments across all classes of raw materials and demanded a solution to alleviate their economic distress.

The minister advised granite unit owners to end their strike to avoid workers’ hardships and factory closures.

He said a committee has been formed with the participation of officials from mining, other departments and industry associations to address the complaints in a systematic manner. This panel will review all concerns, including copyrights and the impacts of the strike, and provide a report within a week.
