Krishi Mela to be held in Mandya from December 5 to 7

Mandya Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer KR Nandini inspected the preparatory work for the Krishi Mela scheduled to be held from December 5 to 7 at VC Farm in Mandya district.

Ms. Nandini said a total of 50 stalls have been set up to provide adequate space for women from self-help groups (SHGs) to sell their products.

A total of 34 SHGs from Mandya district and 16 SHGs from other districts will be allotted stalls in the Krishi Mela, he added.

Siri Samruddhi

Ms. Nandini said SHGs in Mandya district are preparing food products using millets and these products will be launched under the brand name ‘Siri Samruddhi’.

He added that in order to strengthen the economic situation of these groups, all regional offices have been instructed to provide food products prepared by SHGs for their meetings and events.

Overseeing the preparatory work on November 28, Ms. Nandini inspected the construction of the main stage, stands and more while receiving updates from officials on the planned programs.

He also instructed the officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and the staff of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) to carry out extensive promotion of the Krishi Mela by organizing activities such as cycle rallies, cycle rallies and walkathons.

He also emphasized the need to create greater awareness in this regard, as well as provide training to farmers and SHG members in using agricultural machinery through coordinated efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and NRLM.

Joint Director Agriculture Ashok, Roopashree, Mandya Zilla Panchayat Planning Director and other officials from the VC farm were also present during Ms. Nandini’s inspection.
