KTR Questions CM’s Silence on Kummera Incident

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday questioned Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s “inexcusable silence” on the death of a baby in Kummera and declared that “all those who stand with the murderers of the innocent child are unquestionably guilty”.

Speaking in Kummera after meeting the parents of the dead baby, Rama Rao said it was “absolutely wrong for anyone – be it the Chief Minister, local MLA or local MP – to support those responsible for taking the child’s life”.

He demanded that a murder case be filed immediately against 8 people who were allegedly involved in the events that resulted in the baby’s death, that all the defendants be arrested, and that the government announce `1 crore compensation’ to the family.

He claimed that Chandrakala’s family was brutally attacked at the Mallanna Swamy Jatara when they were just looking for an opportunity to pray. Later, around 20 to 25 people attacked Ganesh, Chandrakala’s husband and his family, and despite pleas to spare the child, the attackers kicked the baby to death in an extremely barbaric manner,” said Rama Rao.

Saying that the entire society bowed its head in shame in the face of the incident, Rama Rao added that the government’s silence on the issue indicates attempts to mislead the investigation. The Prime Minister’s silence on this issue is inexcusable and “shameful attempts are being made to protect the murderers by using political power”, he said.
