Kudumbashree’s ‘Jana Galsa’ to give tribal art forms a new lease of life

Kudumbashree mission has launched a new initiative ‘Jana Galsa’ To breathe a new life in the tribal art forms of the state.

Jana GalsaIn other words, Paniya means the celebration of people in the tribal language, aiming to transform domestic art forms into applicable businesses that can make a living for the tribal people and bring income to them. It will be used as a tool for public awareness campaigns and even integrated into the school curriculum.

The first phase of the project includes the creation of tribal art forms and a comprehensive array of artists through a survey to be carried out through the animators of the planned tribes. The survey is expected to be completed by August 20.

Kudumashree plans to establish a state -level consortium, which includes the revived art forms, and to turn them into models that can earn better employment and income.

The project also aims to use tribal art forms to bring changes in the curriculum. Together with the General Education Department, tribal art, culture, rituals and traditions and domestic cuisine will be included in the curriculum to ensure that the young generation is aware of their lives.

The initiative will also be linked to anti -drug campaigns and other social awareness driving forces. Kudumbashree’s theater group Rangashree, Cultural Tourism Centers, Kerala Sanggeetha Nataka Academy, Kerala Research Education and Development Research Institute (KIRTADS) and Folklore Academy will support the project.
