ISRO President V. Naradanan, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, the Tuticorin region of the country’s second launch complex was expected to end until December 2026, and there was a possibility of approximately 25 launch per year.
After joining Bhumi Puja for the launch ramp in Kulasekarapattinam, he said that the satellites using a small satellite launch tool (SSLV), which can carry a load of 500 kg at a height of 400 km, will be launched here.

The complex was coming on a land of 2300 acres and this would be the second facility, the other is in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
“All work will end until December 2026-this is our goal. We plan the rocket launch until the fourth quarter of the next year. The Prime Minister will announce the right launch date at the appropriate time.” He said.
“There will be 20-25 satellite launch every year.”
PM Modi threw the cornerstones of the small satellite launch vehicle complex (SLC) in Kulasekarapattinam, a coastal village in February 2024, through video conference.
SSLVs are different from polar satellite launching tools (PSLVs) and geosynchronous satellite launch tools (GSLVs), which can carry more heavier loads and generally used in deep space exploration programs. PSLVs and GSLVs were released from India’s first space spakeport Sriharikota.
In addition to the senior officials of the Bengaluru -based space agency, Naradanan, Vikram Sarabhai Space Center Director, Thiruvananthapuram, a Rajarajan and other scientists took part in the foundation stone laying ceremony.
