Kupwara custodial torture case: CBI to press for police remand of 8 including two police officers

CBI, two years ago in the custody of a police officers in Kupwara’da under the pressure of the police staff and two civilians for the police enthusiast.
The Central Investigation Office (CBI) pressure on Thursday, August 21, 2025, two years ago in the Kupwara region of Northern Kashmir, a police officers and two civilians who were tortured in custody for the police enthusiasts.
Authorities said the CBI was in the process of approaching the Srinagar Special Court for police arrest. The central investigation agency comes one day after the arrest of six police officers, including two civilians and two civilians in the case. The arrested were defined as DSP Ajaz Ahmad Sheikh, Lower Inspector Riyaz Ahmad, Police Itiyaz Ahmad, Hajagnir Ahmad, Shaki Ahmad and Mohammad Younis.

DSP Subash CBI’s special investigation team (SIT), headed by the CBI, questioned the police and two civilians to record statements. All arrested individuals were locked in a Srinagar prison.
The arrests were made by the police officers at the Joint Interrogation Center in Kupwara (JIC) on July 21st of the Supreme Court (SC) ordered a CBI investigation of Constable Kurshid Ahmad Chouhan in February 2023.
On February 17, 2023, the police led the Cupwara Police Inspector Aijaz Ahmad Naiko to report it on 20 February 2023 about an investigation into a Narcotic issue. The police “were detained for six days in a row and subjected to brutal custody torture”.
The case page, the genital organs and testicles of the police were interrupted. “The pepper was sprinkled in special parts and he was given electric shocks that caused his feet to break. The storage was subjected to serious injuries during torture and the Regional Hospital was shifted to Kupwara in a community.”

Later, CBI placed a fir under the sections: 120-B, 307, 323, 325, 326 and 343, criminal conspiracing, murder, voluntarily hurt, causing brutal pain as a voluntary, causing a voluntary injury by dangerous weapons or vehicles caused a false accommodation.

The SC directed the CBI to submit a status report until 10 November 2025 before the court.
