Kurt Russell reveals why he left Hollywood for Colorado ranch 40 years ago

Kurt Russell wasn’t looking for an escape, but after leaving Los Angeles, he found his home in the mountains.
Russell, 75, admitted that farm life in Colorado allows him to do “the things I want to do on a daily basis.”
“What I want to look at is what I want to be a part of; everything Colorado has to offer,” he said people magazine.
“I finally wanted to get into the farming life.”

He added: “When Goldie and I got together a few years later, we started a farm together right where our family grew up. That was 40 years ago.”
The busted “Tombstone” star noted that his decision to leave Hollywood was not a popular option in the entertainment industry at the time.
“I wasn’t running away. I was just living where I lived,” he said. “I was lucky it didn’t really make any difference.

“But when I did it, no one else was doing it. A lot of people said to me, ‘This is goodbye. That’s it.’ I said, ‘Well, we’ll see.'”
The years since he and his family chose a more relaxed lifestyle in Colorado have seen an exodus from the City of Angels.

“I don’t like L.A.,” he said. “It’s not my choice in terms of how I like to live my life.”
He added, “You have to understand something about the Old Snowmass area. Everyone who lives there lives there because they want to. I can’t say that about Los Angeles.”

For her children, life in Colorado is “very different from living in the city,” Russell said.
“They grew up with a good dose of what nature has to offer,” he said. “It has its challenges, but it also has great rewards. I’m more comfortable there.”
He compared his quiet country life to “how he grew up in Maine.”

“I think once you’re exposed to that kind of thing, it’s always home,” Russell said.
“I’m really happy that we were able to do everything we did there in terms of what we built and what we were able to offer our kids in life.”

“The Madison” star previously told Fox News Digital that even outside of Los Angeles, it’s the people who make her life the most fun.
Hawn has two children. Oliver and Kate HudsonFrom her previous marriage to Bill Hudson. Russell has a son named Boston from his marriage to Season Hubley. The couple has a biological son named Wyatt.

“What I enjoy most is [Hawn] “I really love Colorado,” said Russell. “Wyatt, Meredith and their two children currently live in Colorado. That’s why we like to spend as much time there as possible.”
Hawn, 80, may have better explained why the couple chose the mountains over the city after admitting their Los Angeles home was burglarized once.
“What if we couldn’t live in Los Angeles, where would we live? We both decided, I think it’s Palm Desert… It’s very safe,” Hawn recalled while appearing on the SiriusXM podcast of her dream place to plant new roots “Let’s Talk Behind the Scenes with Kelly Ripa.”

“It’s just because LA sucks. So we got robbed once.”
Academy Award winning actress She explained that she and Russell “drove for two hours and 20 minutes” before returning home to a seemingly normal state.
“We came back and went into the house. I went up the stairs and went into my closet. I lost it,” Hawn said. “They entered our bedroom and closets from the balcony.”

Hawn added, “And they totally broke down my door, which is a safe door, so they’re very, very knowledgeable and took a lot of my goodies, if you know what I mean.”

Four months later, Hawn was home alone with only her dog when she heard a startling noise in another room.

“I heard a loud crash from above – and I was alone; the Wolf wasn’t there – and I said, ‘What the hell was that?’ “I asked,” he said.
“Like was it a sonic boom? Did someone jump somewhere? And the next day we found out they were trying to get into my bedroom while I was home.”
