Labour minister: France migrant return fail shows deal is ‘working’ | News

Labor Minister Josh MacAlister said the failure to reverse the “one in, one out” deal with France proved the plan was “working”.
Speaking to Calum Macdonald on Times Radio on Thursday (October 23), Mr MacAlister asked about an “Iranian” man who was taken to France but returned to the UK on a small boat.
The male migrant told The Guardian newspaper that he was a victim of modern slavery at the hands of traffickers in northern France.
The children’s minister responded that “this shows that the plan is working” and sent the following message from the government: “If you come here illegally and we extend France’s return agreement, you will be deported.”
