Sudanese migrant arrested in UK after four people die trying to cross the Channel

A Sudanese migrant has been arrested on suspicion of endangering life after the deaths of four people trying to cross the Canal in a small boat on Thursday.
Yesterday, two men and two women died while trying to board a “water taxi”, a type of boat used by smugglers to pick up migrants off the coast of France.
The 27-year-old man was arrested at Manston immigration processing center in Kent on Friday morning on suspicion of the new offense of endangering others during his sea journey to the UK.
Following the incident on Thursday morning, 38 people were returned to France, while 38 people were sent to France as a precaution, including 1 person with hypothermia and 2 children.
But the National Crime Agency said 74 migrants were on their way to the UK. The incident occurred off Saint Etienne au Mont, south of Boulogne-sur-Mer near Calais.

Pas-de-Calais Governor Francois-Xavier Launch told reporters that the four dead men were “trying to get into a taxi.”
“They were already well out to sea. The currents, which could be dangerous here, took them away.”
This is a story of breaking. More to follow….
