Labour MP wants to bring sex toys to Parliament as she calls for ‘summer of sex’

A Labor MP has launched a campaign to make 2026 the “summer of sex” and even said she hoped to bring sex toys to parliament.
Derbyshire South MP Samantha Niblett: ‘Yes Sex Please, We’re British!’ It campaigns for more open, inclusive and lifelong sexual education under the title.
Fighting the stigma is important because “people have a natural interest in sex… (it) feels like there’s an opportunity to remind people that it’s an enjoyable thing,” she said.
She works with sex tech entrepreneur Cindy Gallop, who founded an adult video website called MakeLoveNotPorn that aims to offer an alternative to hardcore pornography.

In an interview with PoliticsHome Page He said on his website that he wanted to make 2026 the “summer of sex”.
As part of this initiative, she hopes to bring sex toys to Parliament to encourage more conversation about sexual pleasure, although the devices may not be allowed inside for security reasons.
The 46-year-old MP said that, as part of the campaign, he learned that “masturbation is good for your health as well as making you feel good.”
He added: “The first time I saw pornography I was 10, I saw it on a videotape, I saw it in magazines.
“And sometimes I wonder if the fact that I saw it at such a young age but couldn’t talk about it shaped the person I am today. It’s funny, just because I’m doing a campaign on sex education, it’s not like I’m this strong, sexually flamboyant person. I’m not. I wish I were.
“If I could rewire my brain… It’s not too late, I hope sex this summer will be an education for me too.”
He described sex education at school as “pretty medical.”
“Everything was focused on what you shouldn’t do, not what you should do,” he said. “Pleasure definitely didn’t play a part in it. And as a girl, you worry about either catching an STD or getting pregnant. I don’t really remember mentioning birth control either.”
He said he watches porn “like a lot of people” and recently watched content on Gallop’s website featuring “real people having messy, funny, intimate, sensual sex together.”
“My favorite parts are always the intimate parts. I’m not saying other people’s choices are wrong, but I think if you become desensitized to think some things are normal, it distorts your view of what real sex is like with real people who aren’t in porn.”
Niblett explained why she wants to fight against the social stigma around sex: “We need to accept that people have a natural interest in sex. It’s one of those things that almost all of us want to do, almost all of us do.”
“It feels like there’s an opportunity to remind people that this is a joyful thing.”
