Labour torn to shreds as bombshell number of new homes ‘to be given to migrants’ | Politics | News

Working class members were harshly criticized after new analysis showed a significant number of new buildings would be needed to house immigrants. Nearly four in ten new homes built by 2030 will be for immigrants, according to Conservative Party research, warning that this could put additional pressure on the housing market.
This comes as the Government continues to fall behind its ambitious housebuilding plans. Building 1.5 million new homes across England by 2029 was a key promise in Labour’s manifesto, but industry experts warned it would be impossible to achieve. The new analysis is reportedly based on data from the Office for Budget Responsibility’s latest Economic and Fiscal Outlook report.
The watchdog’s figures show net migration is expected to be 1,172,792 between 2026 and 2030.
Using the ONS average household size, this would require approximately 499,000 additional homes based on immigration alone. Sun This spoiled the story.
According to The Sun, around 1.34 million new homes are expected to be built in Britain during the same period; This means that 37.1 percent of all houses built in the next five years will be aimed at housing immigrants, and by 2030 this rate will rise to 39.1 percent.
Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp told the paper: “High immigration has real consequences for rents, house prices and who has access to new homes.
“Labour opened the door without a plan to deal with the consequences.”
Immigration pressures alone are reportedly adding around £9,500 to the price of an average house.
A Government spokesman said: “We are pulling every lever to build 1.5 million homes, reignite the dream of home ownership and end the housing crisis we inherited.
“This is alongside the biggest overhaul of Britain’s settlement pattern in 50 years to tackle unacceptably high levels of net migration, which have fallen by almost 70% under this government in recent years.”
