While a police officer was trying to detain a man with a machete, a police were shot in the leg by a fiery weapon. Gloucestershire Constabulary Officer was hospitalized on Wednesday with a life -threatening leg injury after the incident in Gloucester, Silverstone Walk.
The armed police were sent to the scene by a man who was a machete of a taxi driver at 4.40 o’clock and a policeman was discharged from a police firearm while the officers were trying to arrest the suspect. A man was arrested and remained in custody.
The force that fired the wounded weapon has not yet been released.
While investigations about the incident continued, a police cord was applied at the scene.
Temporary officer Maggie Blyth said: “My thoughts are with the injured officer and colleague following this incident.
“I am grateful for their courage to be in custody of someone who is suspected of making a robbery and has a machete and believed to be a real danger for the public.”
South Western Ambulance Service spokesman, an ambulance, critical maintenance car, a fast intervention vehicle and dangerous field intervention team joined.
“We transferred a patient to Southmead Hospital with a black ambulance.”
Gloucestershire Police Federation Secretary Ian White said: “Police officers in Gloucestershire – and throughout the country – they are often working in an incredibly difficult, dynamic and dangerous environment that faces severe threats and danger.
He continued: “Last night we provide injury to our colleague in Kingsway. We will support the civil servants and their families and look at the welfare of all civil servants about the incident.
“As part of this study, President Adam Williams and I joined the stage on Wednesday night, and if his colleagues were needed, the federation remained.
He continued: “Investigations and the legal process will not make any more comments at the moment.”
The incident was directed to the independent police behavior office.
