King Charles could hold private reunion with Archie and Lilibet | Royal | News

King Charles may be prepared to ensure a possible meeting with his two youngest grandchildren is kept secret next month. It has been confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will return to the UK next month with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The King had seen Archie several times before, before Harry and Meghan’s decision to move to the US. But the 77-year-old has only been able to meet her grandson once, during the family’s visit to England in 2022; This visit coincided with Lilibet’s first birthday.

Archie and Lilibet, now seven and five, last visited the UK in June 2022 during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Although the Sussexes were in the UK at the time, they did not appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the late monarch’s final Military Commencement.

As reported by GB News, while no meetings between the King and his grandchildren have been confirmed for next month, Buckingham Palace officials are said to want to keep any potential meetings behind closed doors. Reports suggested these were due to any potential photo opportunities. In 2022, the Sussexes reportedly want the late monarch to appear in a photo with Archie and Lilibet.

This was the late Queen’s first and last meeting with her namesake great-granddaughter.

This request was reportedly rejected by the late Queen due to the risk of the photographs becoming public.

Writing in his explosive memoir Spare, Harry shared that his beloved grandmother referred to Archie and Lilibet as “the sweetest children”.

He also said he was “overwhelmed” and expected them to be “more American.”

The family’s visit to England next month is planned for Harry to take part in the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
