Lamar Jackson’s return to the Baltimore Ravens couldn’t have gone any better. The former MVP threw four touchdown passes to lead a 28-6 rout of the Miami Dolphins on “Thursday Night Football.”

Jackson had missed the last four games with a hamstring injury and watched from the sidelines as Baltimore fell into a rut. After last week’s win moved the Ravens to 2-6, head coach John Harbaugh confirmed Jackson would return for Week 9, and he delivered.

Although he didn’t test the hamstring too much with his usual Houdini humping motion, Jackson’s arm, which had been immobilized for a month, wanted to relax.

That came in the first quarter, when the Ravens’ defense forced Tahj Washington into a fumble that put Baltimore down to Miami’s seven-yard line. After Derrick Henry twice tried and failed to go inside, Jackson scored on fourth-and-goal, finding reliable tight end Mark Andrews to make it a 7-3 game.

Then, after the Dolphins’ missed field goal, Jackson led a seven-play, 75-yard drive in which Andrews was open again, this time catching and running 20 yards into the end zone to put the Ravens up 14-3.

Meanwhile, Tua Tagovailoa was receiving a barrage of boos that got louder with each quarter as the Dolphins tried to find the colored paint. In fact, despite reaching the red zone five times, they did not do so throughout the night.

Leading 14-6 at halftime, Jackson and the Ravens decided to open this game with a steady 11-play game that ended with a goal by Charlie Kolar. The Dolphins were only able to run seven total plays in the third quarter, and as even more chants poured in from the Hard Rock Stadium fans, Jackson found Rashod Bateman for his fourth touchdown of the contest.

They came out on top in the fourth quarter, when a 12-play Dolphins drive ended with a turnover in the red zone by Malik Washington, while Tagovailoa was intercepted by rookie Malachi Starks to end the game.

In the box score, Jackson was 18-of-23 for 204 yards with four touchdowns and only 15 yards rushing. Henry rushed for 119 yards on 19 carries, while Zay Flowers caught five Jackson passes for 64 yards.

For Miami, Tagovailoa was 25-for-40 for 261 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. Dolphins’ dynamic running back De’Von Achane rushed for 67 yards and caught six passes for 39 yards. Jaylen Waddle led the game with 82 yards on six receptions.

After starting the season 1-6, the Ravens know they need to extend their winning streak to reach their playoff goal, and that’s exactly what they got with Jackson’s return.

On the other hand, the Dolphins still have a lot to figure out after last week’s promising win over the Atlanta Falcons.
