Land Deal: CPI Seeks Cancellation of GO-17

Kakinada: CPI state secretariat member T. Madhu opposed the alliance government’s move to “transfer public assets, especially lands worth millions of rupees in Kakinada, without consideration to Pithapuram’s former MLA SVSN Varma for his political interests”.
He told the media here on Sunday that the Prime Minister was distributing people’s assets free of charge to corporate companies and political leaders without regard to public interest.
Varma aspired to the post of MLC or Rajya Sabha member, but deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan and his brother Nagababu opposed it. “To pacify TD leader Varma, Naidu decided to give him trillions of land.”
He said that CPI does not think that the Taj Hotel will be built on these lands and that the company has not made such a statement.
“CPI will file a public interest litigation in the court,” he said, adding that the government should take back 108 acres of land belonging to the Bhavannarayana Swamy temple. “Some real estate agents encroached on the lands, made layouts and sold them. The state should suspend the officials who gave permission to real estate agents,” he said.
