Large scale spying of citizens using Chinese technology, says Amnesty International

How strong is Pakistan’s surveillance system?
The report also states that Pakistan’s surveillance network consists of a legal intersection management system (LIMS) with the ability to monitor at least 4 million mobile phones at the same time. However, the Web Management System (WMS) 2.0 has been created to monitor all internet traffic and is so strong that it can easily block 2 million active sessions at a time. When it is activated simultaneously, these systems can stop the entire Internet, because they can block calls and texts in Pakistan, websites and social media platforms that they can slow or prevent them.
“The surveillance technologies enabled Pakistan state to monitor, silence and suppress the opposition without legal justification or sufficient supervision,” he said.
Is China behind online surveillance in Pakistan?

The Internet Firewall was taken from the US -based Niagara networks and the Chinese company Geedge Networks, where equipment from France’s Software from Thales Group.
The equipment of the phone touching system was reported to have been brought from Utimaco, which was established through the UAE -based Datafusion.

Why is Pakistan at the target of amnesty?
The findings of AF came to the case of the 2024 Supreme Court of Islam, which was opened by former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi.
