India’s unique identity authority (UIDAI) will launch a country -wide initiative to accelerate the biometric update of AADHAAR cards through schools in the next two months. The venture aims to cover more than 7 Crore children whose biometric details have not yet been updated.
UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar said that the authority is currently testing technology and expects it to be ready for the next 45.–60 days. The project will be expanded to colleges for the second updates that start with schools and then reach the age of 15.
According to the UDAI instructions, biometric updates become compulsory when a child is 5 years old. Children under 5 years of age are given aadhaar without biometric data. Failure to complete the compulsory biometric update (MBU) before the age of 7 may cause deactivation of the number of aadhaar. Updates between the ages of 5-7 are free, but after 7 years of age, 100 RS fee is applied.
Kumar, “Aadhaar, is very important to benefit under various government plans. We want all the benefits to get all the benefits at the right time. We are trying to reach many children through schools,” he said.
Meanwhile, UDAI reiterated the importance of completing the compulsory biometric update (MBU) for children who have reached the age of seven but have not yet updated their biometry in AADHAAR. This is an existing requirement under the direction of AADHAAR, and parents or parents can update the details of their children at any Aadhaar Seva Kendra or appointed Aadhaar Center. In order to complete the MBU exercise, UIDAI began sending SMS messages to mobile phone numbers registered in Aadhaar.
UDAI Problems Warning
Uidai, who organized warnings to parents, said that their children will be disabled if they do not update the AADHar card. “The timely completion of MBU is an important requirement to maintain the accuracy and reliability of children’s biometric data. If MBU is not completed even after the age of 7, the number of aadhaars can be disabled according to the current rules.
