Dibrugarh-bound Air India Express flight returns to Guwahati after developing technical snag

An Air India Express flight bound for Dibrugarh returned to Guwahati after experiencing a technical problem on Monday and later flew to its destination in a different aircraft, officials said.

The Boeing 737 Max 8 carrier was scheduled to take off from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati at 12:20 pm and land at Dibrugarh airport at 13:25 pm.

But minutes before landing, the pilots observed a problem with the avionics related to one of the wings, an official said.

“He decided to return to Guwahati immediately. A different flight was arranged and flight IX-1186 flew from Guwahati and reached Dibrugarh at 6.20 pm,” he added.

There were no reports of any passengers being injured.

When contacted, an Air India Express spokesperson said, “One of our flights returned to Guwahati due to a technical issue. We arranged an alternative flight, provided refreshments to the guests and operated the flight with delay. We apologize for this inconvenience.”

However, it did not provide further details such as the number of passengers or crew.
