The search for the mother of television host Savannah Guthrie continued Tuesday morning amid the family’s desperate pleas for her safe return.

The FBI has not yet identified a suspect or person of interest. Nancy Guthrie remains missing one day after the deadline set by a ransom note from her alleged kidnappers.

The 84-year-old woman’s family said on Sunday they would pay her kidnappers to ensure her safe return home. Authorities have not confirmed the veracity of this ransom demand.

But efforts to contact the kidnappers appear to have fallen short, with authorities saying in a statement Monday night that they “are not aware of any ongoing communication between the Guthrie family and the suspected kidnappers, and we have not identified a suspect or person of interest in this case at this time.”

Michael Rudzena, pastor of Good Shepherd New York and the Guthrie family’s pastor, described Nancy Guthrie as a “strong woman” and “extremely loving.”

“Prayer opens possibilities in our hearts,” he said said Today. “Leaving a door open for hope is one way to combat this death.”

Authorities believe Guthrie was abducted from her home on January 31 or early February 1. They were unable to verify the authenticity of the ransom note sent to local media and TMZ.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement Monday that authorities have not yet identified “any suspect, person of interest, or vehicle” in connection with her apparent kidnapping and that “if there is a significant development in the situation, a news conference will be held.”

Authorities stated that there were obstacles in tracking the attacker. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, who is leading this investigation, said someone disconnected Nancy Guthrie’s smart doorbell when she disappeared. However, they could not receive images because they were not actively subscribed.
