Marks and Spencer has revealed which London locations it wants to target with its brand new food stores as it sets its sights on a massive expansion. The British supermarket has announced 500 stores it wants to open and revealed plans to expand its food offering to customers across the country. 197 of these locations are in Greater London, with a number of new M&S stores set to open in the capital over the next few years.

The supermarket says these stores will be in a refurbishment format, with a wider range of M&S Food, wider aisles for larger trolleys and larger car parks for more family shoppers. “The strong performance of our new M&S food stores gives us the confidence to explore more locations across the UK, from Elgin to Exmouth,” said Alex Freudmann, M&S Managing Director.

He continued: “We are moving faster with over twenty stores opening or modernizing before the end of the financial year. Our team is looking for new sites where we can open a major M&S Food store as we deliver on our strategy of bringing the right stores in the right locations and offering our customers the best shopping experience, variety and availability.”
