Leaked details of Megxit and one thing Harry and Meghan refused to do | Royal | News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly refusing to do anything significant amid plans to quit royal staff. The couple, who now live in Montecito, announced their decision to step down from royal duties in January 2020, with their final engagement set to take place just a few weeks later.
The couple later spent time in Canada before moving to California with their son. After announcing their plans on their then-joint Instagram accounts, Meghan flew to Canada to reunite with Prince Archie, who is less than a year old.
Russell Myers, the Daily Mirror’s royal editor, wrote that Meghan left Harry “to face the music alone” while Harry attended a Megxit summit to discuss the couple’s future.
A senior palace source revealed that because the couple had reached a half-in, half-out agreement, they refused to give them further options on what they wanted to do and “got nothing in return”.
The source said: “We already knew they intended to sign commercial deals and that would not work within the model.
“So we asked them, ‘How do you want this to work? Do you have a concrete plan that can help us?’ “We kept asking, but we didn’t get anything in return.”
According to Russell Myers’ new book, William & Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story, courtiers insist palace staff “bent over backwards” to accommodate the couple, but it didn’t work.
A former courtier described the Sussexes as a pair of “loose cannons” who were “not to be trusted within the extended family”.
Harry has previously spoken out about the term ‘Megxit’, referring to it as a misogynistic term.
She previously said: “Maybe people know this, maybe they don’t, but the term Megxit was, or still is, a misogynistic term, and it was created by a troll, amplified by royal correspondents, and grew and grew and grew into mainstream media. But it started with a troll.”
