LeBron James: Miami Heat mistakenly post ‘introductory press conference’ video
Miami Heat accidentally posted a link to LeBron James’ ‘introductory press conference’ on YouTube, even though the NBA star has not yet decided where he will play next season.
A link to the livestream, scheduled for July 27, was uploaded to the Heat’s channel on Tuesday before being deleted.
Heat spokesman said Reuters, external The video was accidentally released by staff preparing for the possibility of James joining the team.
BBC Sport has contacted the Miami Heat for comment.
James, 41, announced his departure from the Los Angeles Lakers in June after eight years, leading the team to the 2020 NBA championship, its fourth title overall.
He previously played for Miami between 2010 and 2014.
James averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds for the Lakers last season.
The 22-time All-Star is the NBA’s all-time leader in games (1,622) and points (43,440).
James’ return to Florida will form a formidable starting five for the Heat, along with new signing and two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and center Bam Adebayo.
Considering the Heat traded key members of their roster to acquire Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks, a player of James’ caliber would add more scoring prowess and experience to the Miami team as it focuses on a quick rebuild toward a championship.
However, earlier this week, James’ manager Rich Paul said he would be “in no rush” to make the decision.
“It’s his choice, and when he makes the choice, he’s going to make it,” Paul said on the Game Over podcast with Max Kellerman and Rich Paul.
