Lehrmann lied on stand to conceal rape, court told

Bruce Lehrmann lied a series of lies during an insulting case against a national publisher because he was trying not to be exposed to a court as an rapist.
The former political personnel raped his colleague Brittany Higgins at the Parliament Building in 2019 by the Federal Court Justice Michael Lee – in the balance of possibilities.
The rotten civil court finding came to Lehrmann’s Ağ Ten and journalist Lisa Wilkinson after filed a lawsuit for insulting with the 2021 interview with Mrs. Higgins, whom she had published.
Lehrmann launched an appeal against the decision in the federal court, and argued that procedural justice was rejected because the actual findings were different from the case carried out by him.
He also claimed that if Justice Lee was successful in proving that it was insulting, it would have the right to compensate only $ 20,000, and the figure was “clearly insufficient”.
However, Ms. Wilkinson’s lawyer told the court that the damage to the court during the hearing and pre -repeated fraud actions ”could not be deemed insufficient.
Sue Chrysanthou SC said that Lehrmann was lying because he knew that telling the truth would expose it as an rapist.
“If a person comes to court and lied over and over again, he will have a significant impact on these damages,” he said.

Justice Lee has determined that Lehrmann had a series of deliberately lying about important issues during the hearing.
He wrote that he was pleased to have rejected any gender of a 30 -year -old sex because he knew that accepting sex with a drunk woman would bring the issue of consent.
Ms. Chrysanthou said that the judge had recklessly indifferent to the consent of Mrs. Higgins, and that he should find “deliberate rape”.
“This level of indifference will be considered as a rape by any person on the street in 2021, because this kind of indifference is unacceptable at this day and age,” he said.
Lehrmann also had a problem with the definition of rape employed by Justice Lee, claiming that an ordinary person was inconsistent with the meaning that he would understand.

Lehrmann argues that Mrs. Higgins has been sexually assaulted.
In 2022, a criminal case against him was abandoned without any findings against him.
The appeal hearing continues on Thursday.
