New York City subways will continue operating through the stormMTA president and CEO Janno Lieber said Sunday.
Speaking at a press conference with Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Lieber said that metro and buses were operating on a Sunday schedule until Monday.

Seven total deaths reported from winter storm
With the deaths in New York City, the total death toll now stands at seven as a result of the massive winter storm that brought heavy snowfall and ice from the Gulf coast to the northeastern United States.

New York City reported five deaths suspected to be related to severe weather.
The bodies of five people were found on the streets of New York as temperatures reached freezing temperatures on Saturday.
According to police, a 67-year-old man was found on the sidewalk on Manhattan’s 3rd Avenue around 7:45 a.m. About two hours after the initial discovery, two more bodies were found in Brooklyn, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 60s.
An unidentified man was later found on Hilburn Avenue in Queens, and another unidentified man was found on 69th Street and 1st Avenue in Manhattan. The coroner will determine the official causes of death, but officials suspect extreme cold may have contributed.

While all public school buildings in New York are closed, education will continue remotely for students who are scheduled to attend school on Monday.
According to Mayor Mamdani and schools chancellor Kamar Samuels, the decision to make tomorrow a distance learning day prioritizes the safety of students and staff while also serving to continue education and meet New York State’s 180-day education requirement.
The mayor also said the travel warning will remain in effect until Monday.
“It’s going to be colder than any period New York has experienced in about eight years,” Mamdani said at a news conference.
Popular food delivery apps Grubhub and DoorDash say they are considering pausing their delivery services in areas facing the most severe weather conditions. They also warned that wait times could be longer.
For the areas in which it currently operates, DoorDash implements a “Weather Impact Fee” Sunday for all deliveries in storm-affected areas. The company said the entire fee goes to drivers who make deliveries in areas with bad weather conditions.
