Liberal Party net zero debate rages on; Trump threatens to sue the BBC; Delhi car blast kills eight, injures 20

At least eight people were killed and 20 injured when a car exploded near the historic Red Fort in India’s capital, police said. Police said it was a rare explosion in the heavily guarded city of over 30 million people.

Federal Home Minister Amit Shah said it was being investigated from “all angles” and security agencies would come to a conclusion soon.

Mutilated bodies and the wreckage of several cars could be seen on a crowded street near a metro station in Delhi’s old district, as police rushed to the area to ensure security and push back the gathering crowd. Major railway stations in India have been put on high alert.

He said the explosion occurred just before 12.30pm local time.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to those who lost their loved ones. In his post on X, he said, “May the injured recover as soon as possible. Those affected are being helped by the authorities.”
