Lift Crashes In Meerpet Apartment, 8 Injured; One Critical

Eight people were injured, including one seriously, when an elevator crashed from the fourth floor to the ground floor of an apartment building in Hanumannagar in Meerpet on Sunday afternoon.

According to police, the victims had visited the apartment to inspect a newly built apartment that was offered for sale. After the inspection was completed, all eight people got into the elevator to get off. It was reported that the elevator suddenly stopped near the fourth floor on its way down and crashed to the ground floor.

Citizens who heard the crash came to the scene and informed the medical teams. The injured were admitted to a private hospital in LB Nagar. Doctors said one of the victims was in critical condition, while the others were being treated for multiple injuries.

Meerpet police visited the apartment complex and launched an investigation. Authorities are investigating whether the accident was caused by a technical malfunction, poor maintenance of the elevator, or another mechanical malfunction. It is expected that the elevator’s maintenance records will also be examined within the scope of the investigation. Police said further action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

The names of the injured are 62-year-old Tirunagari Narasimha Swamy; Padmini, 51; T. Venkateswarlu, 75; T. Nirmala, 69; P. Gopala Swamy, 71; P. Renuka, 65; T.Padma, 68; and T. Shobha, 64.

Passenger died in Shamshabad accident

A 24-year-old vegetable vendor died when the motorcycle he was traveling in the background crashed into a cement barrier on NH-44 near Shaneshwaram Temple in Madanpally village limits under Shamshabad police station.

It was stated that the deceased was Amanullah Khan in Gulshannagar city of Charminar. His father Hameed Khan told the police that Amanullah left home to visit JP Dargah in Kothur along with his friend Muhammad Taysif.

Police said that Taysif lost control while driving the motorcycle at high speed and suddenly and crashed into the barrier. Amanullah was thrown and suffered serious injuries to his chest and died at the scene.

Taysif was injured in his leg in the accident. Following the complaint, Shamshabad police filed a case against him on the grounds that he caused death by rash and careless driving.

While the body was taken to the morgue for autopsy, the investigation into the incident continues.

Dharmasagar inspector attached to AR

Warangal police commissioner Sri Sunpreet Singh has posted Dharmasagar police station inspector Sreedhar Rao on the Armed Reserve (AR) until the investigation into the allegations against him is completed.

According to official sources, the commissioner on Saturday directed senior police officers to conduct a detailed investigation into the allegations and submit a report.

Pending completion of the investigation, Sreedhar Rao has been assigned to the Armed Reserve, the order stated.

Police officials said further action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

‘Golden Man’ arrested for ₹32 lakh fraud

Narayanguda police on Saturday arrested Pallapu Suresh Kumar alias Surya Bhai, popularly known as ‘Golden Man’, in connection with an alleged cheating case involving ₹32.3 lakh. The person arrested in Attapur was sent to the courthouse.

Police said the case was registered on June 26 following a complaint by real estate agent and jeweler Vegroj Krishna Chary, who runs NS Jewelery in Himayathnagar. Chary claimed that Surya Bhai offered to supply one kilogram of 24 carat gold at 20 percent below the market price.

Believing the offer, the complainant and his associates paid ₹ 11 lakh in cash at a popular café in Himayathnagar, followed by ₹ 10 lakh and ₹ 6 lakh in cash for gold ornaments worth ₹ 5.3 lakh at different places.

Despite receiving cash and gold worth a total of Rs 32.3 lakh, the accused neither provided the promised gold nor returned the money. A lawsuit was filed against the relevant departments and an investigation was launched.

Police tracked down Surya Bhai in Attapur and arrested him. The investigation into the fraud incident continues.

4 people arrested for killing unidentified man in Mailardevpally

Mailardevpally police have arrested four persons for attacking an unidentified man and trapping him inside a decoration godown in Pallecheruvu, leading to his death.

According to police, the incident came to light when the body of an unidentified man was found in the closet of Swasthic Shiva Decorators. During the investigation, police found that the victim had entered the cemetery while allegedly intoxicated and was walking around in a suspicious manner.

The workers at the divinity’s forge stopped him and interrogated him. When the man failed to reveal his existence and acted aggressively, they attacked him and imprisoned him inside the god. He later died while in prison.

Based on the investigation, the police registered a case under BNS section 103 (1) and arrested the four accused Balaji, Nayan Mandal, Uttam Bera alias Pintu and Prem Parihar and were produced before the court.

Panchayat secretary caught taking ₹25,000 bribe

Telangana ACB has nabbed Thammisetty Suresh, panchayat secretary of Bhanapuram Gram Panchayat in Khammam, for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 25,000 to get construction permission and allocate house number, officials said on Saturday.

The bribe was allegedly received from the complainant near Rythu Vedika in Mudigonda mandal.

ACB officials said Suresh had demanded money for processing, issuing construction permission and allocating house number for the one-room, sheet-roofed house built by the complainant in a five-kunta house in Bhanapuram village.

The corrupt amount was found in the possession of Suresh. The complainant’s details have been withheld for security reasons.

Man arrested for luring women, making intimate videos and extorting money

Gachibowli police have arrested a 24-year-old accused who allegedly targeted women through social media, secretly recorded intimate photos and videos and used them to blackmail victims and extort money.

The accused, identified as Kilari Nagateja alias Nani, was arrested on Friday in connection with the robbery reported by a woman on June 22. According to police, the incident took place in Room No. 101 of Yellow Stone Hotel opposite DLF Gate No. 3 in Gachibowli.

Police said the suspect befriended the woman through social media and lured her to the hotel. Once he entered the room, he allegedly forced her to pose for nude photos and videos at knifepoint and transferred ₹1.10 lakh from her bank account online. After the woman later contacted the police, an investigation was launched into the incident.

During the investigation, police seized two mobile phones allegedly used to store the victim’s intimate contents and a knife believed to have been used in the crime.

Police said the defendant primarily targeted women through Snapchat and other social media platforms. After gaining their trust, he persuaded them to meet at hotels, forced them to record intimate content, and then used the material to blackmail them into paying money.

Police suspect there may be more victims and have urged anyone who may have been similarly targeted to come forward.

Revenue personnel who falsified land records were suspended

Nizamabad collector Ila Tripathi on Saturday suspended J. Rahul, record assistant attached to the Nizamabad North Tahsildar’s office, over allegations of irregularities and falsification of revenue records (pahanis).

The action was initiated following a preliminary investigation into alleged manipulation of land registry records.

The Collector also ordered a departmental inquiry into alleged irregularities and falsification of land records related to Survey Nos. 291/A, 291/AA and 292 in North Nizamabad Mandal.

Officials said further action would be taken based on the findings of the department’s investigation.

Cargo carrying vehicle ran over 4-year-old child in Musheerabad

A four-year-old boy was killed when he was allegedly hit by a goods vehicle at Bolakpur within Musheerabad police station limits on Saturday.

According to the statements of neighborhood residents, the child accompanied his mother to shop in the neighborhood. The child reportedly walked a short distance away from his mother while walking down the road. Meanwhile, the Tata Ace cargo vehicle, which was allegedly driven negligently, entered the lane, hit the child and ran over him.

The seriously injured child died at the scene before he could be taken to hospital.

The incident was reflected on the security camera installed in the neighborhood. Images spread on social media showing the vehicle hitting the child triggered demands for strict action against the driver.

The police came to the scene, took the body to another location for autopsy and created a record of the incident. An investigation is ongoing.
