Lisa Kudrow settles debate on Friends’ Ross and Rachel storyline as she reveals if she thinks couple really were ‘on a break’

Lisa Kudrow shared her true feelings in one of Friends’ most discussed storylines: Were Ross and Rachel really on a break?
The actress, who plays the eccentric Phoebe Buffay on the fan-favorite sitcom, weighed in on a plot point that has divided fans for years: Ross (David Schwimmer) and Rachel’s (Jennifer Aniston) “we were on a break” breakup.
The fan divide centered on whether Ross was right to sleep with Xerox copy shop worker Chloe after insisting he thought he and Rachel were ‘taking a break’.
62-year-old Kudrow shared her harsh comment in Monday’s episode Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon admitted he was ‘afraid’ to bring up the polarizing issue.
‘What is your opinion? Did they take a break?’ Fallon asked, and he replied: ‘No. But beyond that. Beyond breaking or not. He was a bad boyfriend.’
The star responded with fans saying “Oh, you agree!” He was surprised when she applauded his response. I feel better. Thank you. Thank you for this. ‘Thank you all.’

‘We got back together like five years ago… we all said, ‘They were taking a break.’ “Rachel, that hysterical bitch, won’t let him sleep with anyone and won’t get back together,” Kudrow recalled.
‘She shouldn’t have gone back to him because he was horrible,’ she added.
‘As far as I’m concerned, I don’t care if he sleeps with three other women or if he doesn’t sleep with any other women. You had a crisis at work so you were unavailable for a few nights and he freaked out. And you’re like, “Wow!” you say.
Kudrow remained silent when Fallon asked her if she was aware that Schwimmer thought her character was a terrible boyfriend, to which the host joked, “He knows now.”
Schwimmer had a very different approach when he spoke to Fallon in 2020.
‘It’s not even a question,’ he said, adding, ‘They were on holiday.’
Meanwhile, Aniston claimed in a 2022 ad: ‘For the record… we weren’t taking much of a break.’
This comes after Kudrow recently accused the show’s predominantly male writing team of openly discussing her sexual fantasies about its female leads.

He said life on set was at odds with the show’s light-hearted premise, with each 22-minute episode taking up to six hours to film in front of a waiting studio audience in Los Angeles, thousands of miles from the New York City setting.
“There was definitely bad stuff going on behind the scenes,” Kudrow said. Times.
‘Remember that we were recording in front of a live audience of 400 people, and if you messed up one of these writers’ lines or didn’t get a perfect response, they could be like, “Can’t this f***ing read? He’s not even trying. He’s ruining my line.”‘
Kudrow claimed that her female co-stars, Aniston and Courteney Cox, would also be the subject of lurid conversations among the mostly male writing team.
He said: ‘The men would stay up late discussing their sexual fantasies about Jennifer and Courteney. It was very intense.”
‘Oh, it might have been brutal, but these guys – and most of the people inside were men – were sitting up until 3 in the morning. When I was trying to write the show, I had this attitude: “Tell me what you like about me behind my back, because then it doesn’t matter.”‘
To talk Independentthe actress also claimed that Aniston, Cox, Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and the late Matthew Perry eclipsed her in popularity while the series was still on television.
‘Nobody cared about me,’ he said. ‘There were some parts of it’ [my talent agency] He referred to me only as “the sixth Friend”.’

As Friends became a mega-hit starting with its second season, many of her co-stars used that success to secure coveted movie roles, but Kudrow seemed to think the same kind of deals eluded her.
‘There was no vision for me and I had no expectations of what kind of career I could have,’ he said. “It was like, ‘Boy, is he lucky to be on that show?'”
Despite feeling underappreciated early in her career, Kudrow has since found lasting success in a variety of shows beyond Friends, including the HBO series The Comeback.
