London Stansted Airport fire: Chaos as flights delayed and passengers evacuated | UK | News
After a fire in the early hours of this morning, delays were reported at the Stansted Airport in Essex. The separation room was temporarily closed due to fire, the trains at the airport were delayed.
A statement published by the airport just before 6.30, said: “After the fire in our escape hall in the early hours of this morning, we expect to get permission from emergency services to reopen the departure of Ones and start processing passengers through security.
“Teams are working hard to make smoke from the area and make people enter safe.
“We appreciate that this is annoying for those affected and thank everyone for patience. Another update will continue as soon as possible.”
A second statement added that the departure hall was reopened by the start of the passengers through security, although the waiting times are longer than normal, “he added.
Although some are subject to delays, flights were not suspended.
The National Railway, who sent it to X, said: “Great Anglia and Stansted Express customers can use any extra tickets on the central Connect Bus 305 route between Bishops Stortford and Stansted Airport.”

Another, Cameron Haggar sends to X: “I’m sure if you are on one side of the Departure Hall right now I can talk for hundreds of passengers.
“There is no communication about why we were rolling, we were removed from our meals, no updates were given, and only heard a fire from ‘Kulak Wire’.”
