London to be hotter than Barcelona as Met Office forecasts sunshine and 25C temperatures

Temperatures in London will rise to 25°C on Wednesday, making the capital hotter than Barcelona, according to the Met Office.
While sunshine and warm weather will be felt across much of the UK, parts of Manchester and Wales are expected to see highs of 21 degrees in the afternoon.
If temperatures in London reach 25°C as predicted, this will be enough to surpass the 20.9°C recorded on March 18 at Gogerddan, near Aberystwyth, on the hottest day of the year so far.
This will also mean that many parts of the UK will be warmer than Barcelona, which is expected to reach 19°C today.
Sunshine will also come to the southern parts of the country on Thursday and the temperature is estimated to reach 21 degrees in London.

It comes after Storm Dave brought snow and strong winds over the Easter weekend, causing travel chaos and leaving homes without power as it ravaged northern parts of the UK.
The Met Office said winds reached 93 mph at Capel Curig in North Wales, 75 mph gusts were recorded at Emley Moor in West Yorkshire and St Bees Head in Cumbria, and one of the 73 mph gusts was recorded at Buchan in Aberdeenshire.
Some properties in Scotland were left without power due to strong winds overnight. Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) fault response teams were working on the network to reconnect a small number of affected customers, primarily in coastal Skye, Caithness and Aberdeenshire.
