Tottenham Hotspur & Aston Villa charged over FA Cup melee

Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa have been accused of misconduct by the Football Association following a brawl at the end of their FA Cup match on Saturday.

Shortly after Villa’s 2-1 victory in the third round at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, players from both teams clashed.

Clubs are accused of “failing to ensure that their players and/or officials do not behave in an inappropriate and/or provocative manner after the final whistle”.

Both have until Friday to respond.

Villa took a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals from Emiliano Buendia and Morgan Rogers. Although Wilson Odobert responded for Spurs after the break, Thomas Frank’s team could not avoid an early exit.

Villa, which is in third place in the Premier League, will host its senior teammate Newcastle United in the fourth round.
