London Tube drivers to begin strikes later in March

London Underground drivers will begin a series of 24-hour strikes later this month over planned changes to working hours, the RMT union has said.
The first of six announced strikes will begin on March 24.
The dispute centers around a plan to compress drivers’ workweeks to four days, which the union says is a safety risk.
“We are clear that these proposals raise serious concerns about fatigue, safety and work-life balance,” RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey said.
“There is still time for London Underground to find a workable solution, but if we cannot reach a negotiated solution we will go on strike.”
