The young girl who collided with the truck was airlifted to the hospital and her condition became critical. As well as the air ambulance, police, fire trucks and road ambulances also rushed to the scene on the Boleran Road between Colerain Limavady and Garvagh in Northern Ireland just before 4pm today.

After the girl who was walking at the time was hit, police teams closed the road to traffic while working to make the scene safe. In an online post, the Police Service of Northern Ireland added: “Police received reports of a road traffic accident involving a lorry and a child pedestrian in the Boleran Road area of ​​Limavady shortly before 4pm on Monday 10 November.

“The girl currently remains in hospital and is being treated for injuries described as critical.

“The road is currently closed and road users are advised to seek an alternative route.”

Following the incident, the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) made a statement saying that they sent five teams to the scene.

A spokesman added: “He received the 999 call at 15:51 GMT and dispatched two emergency ambulances, an ambulance dispatcher, rapid response paramedic and helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS) and assistive air ambulance to the ship.

“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one person was taken to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children for further treatment.”
