Loose Women star Charlene White reveals her father has taken his own life after ‘living with a dark cloud he couldn’t lift’

Charlene White, star of the TV series Loose Women, called on her followers to “hold on to their parents tighter” and announced that her father Denniston tragically committed suicide.

The 45-year-old panelist shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional statement on Instagram on Friday.

He wrote: ‘Two weeks ago our lives changed forever. We had no idea that our father was living with a dark cloud that he could not bear. So he decided to take control of that cloud and take his own life.

‘This is despite living a life full of love. FULL to the brim. Actually overflowing. But sometimes the darkness grows stronger and, heartbreakingly for all of us, she chooses to keep her experiences to herself. He’s a very typical father.

‘So we (his children, stepchildren and wife) made a choice not to hide the circumstances of our loss. Because hiding emotions and the true depth of our emotions (pain, pain, shock, grief, etc.) does no one any good. At least us.

‘This sharing will undoubtedly enable many of our friends whom we have not yet reached to contact us. Please do not be offended by the calls and messages that remain unanswered for now. This kind of pain is new and unexpected and we’re still finding our way.’

He added: ‘Hug your parents tight and always tell them you love them. Because that’s our job as children, to love them wherever the road takes them. Even if in the end they choose the most difficult, most incomprehensible path.

‘But we have each other, and I don’t know how we can see a little bit of shine and light every day without leaning on each other. And the millions of extended family members and friends who have held our hearts and hands over the past two weeks.

‘On Sunday we had the traditional Jamaican nine nights and our ancestors were right; It was the perfect way to relieve our pain through food, dance, drink and joy with hundreds of friends and family. It was all organized by our tribe of friends and family. We are incredibly blessed.

‘Denniston was a wonderful father, stepfather, surrogate father to many, friend, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin and husband. And we’re all taking it step by step.
