Louise Redknapp, 51, says it’s taken ‘a long time’ to feel confident in her own skin as she reflects on fame in the 90s

Louise Redknapp has admitted that she has only recently become more confident after three decades in the public eye.
Last week, the singer announced her first solo live tour in almost a decade, revealing a change in attitude as she returns to the music scene.
Speaking on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, the 51-year-old singer was asked about the differences between fame in the nineties, when she was a part of girl group Eternal before going solo, and fame today.
‘I mean, there was a lot more privacy in the 90s than there has ever been on any social media. ‘No comment,’ Louise stated. ‘So now the comments section always scares me. ‘I can’t believe people are saying things.’
When asked if she reads things about herself online, Louise admitted: ‘I try not to. Sometimes it seems like self-harm gets the better of you. You read the first one and think “maybe there’s something better”. I’m like no!’
‘I guess it took me a long time to get there. So, I can truly say that I’ve just entered this phase.’

Speaking on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, the 51-year-old singer was asked about the differences between fame in the nineties, when she was part of the girl group, and fame today (which was filmed in 1995).
The star continued: ‘I think you’re finding your confidence and maybe I’m at an age now where I care a lot less about what people think and I know what’s important in life.’
Louise will hit the road in 2027 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her debut solo album Naked (1996) and will also showcase her 2025 record Confessions.
Her two sons, Charlie (21) and William (17), whom she shares with ex-husband Jamie Redknapp, admitted that they are not bothered by their mother being in the spotlight again.
‘So, they totally ignore me. I’m just their mother,’ she told Sunday Brunch.
‘My youngest was in Paris with his girlfriend yesterday. [He’s] 17. I called him like you do as a mother and he ignored me like my son.’
‘Then he texted me and said: ‘Oh, can we go on holiday for a few days next week? And I said, “Oh, I’m just about to go on stage.” [And he said] “Oh, yeah, good luck. Kiss.”
‘You know, this is about as much support as I can get. But no, I think they’re secretly kind of proud. I guess they just want me to be happy.’
Louise is now in a relationship with Drew Michael following her split from Jamie in 2017 after 19 years of marriage.
Last year, after his difficult marriage, he glowed at his partner and spoke candidly about his future plans.
he said Sun: ‘Drew is great. We have a great time together. It took me a long time to get to that point and be open about everything.
‘I was very careful and afraid. But I really enjoy spending special time with someone. He’s a great guy and super kind.’

Asked if there were wedding bells on the horizon, he added: ‘Oh, I’m not even thinking that far ahead. I’m not even going there.
‘I want to be proud of it and I want to really enjoy it. I met a really great man and I’m really happy. But you never know what the future will bring.’
He added in the interview that his two sons got along really well with Drew, which made life a lot easier.
Louise also hit back at criticism of her being a ‘toyboy’ due to their nine-year age difference.
She said that being labeled a ‘cougar’ was ‘water off a duck’s back’ for her and that ‘age is irrelevant’ as she ‘doesn’t feel older than herself’.
