Love Island winner Kai Fagan quits his teaching job just weeks after launching new business with wife Sanam

Love Island winner Kai Fagan has quit his teaching job just weeks after starting a new business with wife Sanam.

Kai and Sanam, both 28, met at the famous Casa Amor on the hit ITV show in March 2023 and emerged as the winning couple.

Despite taking home the £50,000 cash prize, the couple didn’t let the win completely turn their lives upside down.

While Kai returned to his teaching profession, Sanam continued her career as a social worker.

But everything changed on Wednesday when Kai announced on Instagram that he was leaving teaching.

In a clip shared with her followers, she said: ‘I actually stopped teaching and this is the honest reason why.

Kai and Sanam, both 28, met at the famous Casa Amor on the hit ITV show in March 2023 and emerged as the winning couple.

‘This was not an easy decision and teaching has been a big part of who I am for many years.

Many of you have known me as a teacher since ‘Love Island’ and despite what some of you may think, I returned to teaching after the show because of how much I enjoyed and loved the career.

‘And how passionate I am about this. However, this year I decided to leave. Not because I stopped loving teaching, but because I wanted to challenge myself in a different way.

‘Health and fitness has become another great passion of mine. I studied sport, exercise science and human nutrition at university and it’s something I’ve always wanted to pursue.

‘So me and my wife, as some of you know, opened our own gym and now I run it full time.

‘As much as I wanted to continue teaching, I realized I couldn’t give myself 100% to it and something had to go.

‘So this is not a farewell to teaching forever. I will always be the biggest advocate for education and have nothing but respect for everyone in the profession

‘But right now it’s about supporting myself, embracing a new challenge and also seeing what’s possible.

‘I hope you all take this journey, see the next chapter, and support it as much as you supported the first.

‘So yeah, here’s to new beginnings.’

They married in August 2025 after meeting on Love Island.

Kai and Sanam opened new fitness facility Fagan’s Fitness in Milton Keynes earlier this month.

According to a registration form ‘the gym aims to help people fall in love with fitness through our signature classes, six-week results training program or one-on-one personal training offered Monday-Saturday, while building friendships and receiving professional guidance.’

The couple announced they were starting a new business on May 24 and have been posting hints and teasers about it on their social media channels.

They eventually announced they would be launching a fitness facility on June 19 in an Instagram video that featured a preview of the studio.

‘We are thrilled to announce the creation of Fagan’s Fitness, a fitness facility based in Pineham Farm, Milton Keynes,’ they penned.

Kai and Sanam tied the knot in a stunning £39,000 wedding in Essex in August last year.

Despite finding fame on Love Island, they revealed they only invited one Islander to their lavish wedding – Ron Hall.

During the interview with MirrorKai said: ‘We don’t have friends like that from the series. ‘That’s how life goes.’

Sanam added: ‘We only had 60 guests. When we looked around, we realized that everyone there had a real and close relationship with us. This never happens in real life; ‘everyone is in the same room at the same time’.

Speaking about the emotional speeches on the day, Kai said: ‘You never realize how much people care until they stand up and say it out loud. ‘I was truly struck by how much love there was in that room’.
