M. Sai Kumar to be Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary; Sandeep Mittal to head Armed Police, DVAC

Senior IAS officer M. Sai Kumar will assume office as the Principal Secretary of the Tamil Nadu government following the directive from the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Meanwhile, official sources said that incumbent N. Muruganandam was removed from his post on Wednesday.

The commission also directed the Chief Secretary to appoint senior IPS officer Sandeep Mittal as Director General of Police (Armed Police, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption). He added that the guidelines should come into force immediately and a compliance report must be submitted by 6pm on Wednesday.
