Trump admin allows Anthropic to release Mythos AI model to some companies, government agencies: Reports

The US government on Friday gave Anthropic permission to release the Mythos 5 model to a group of nearly 100 companies and federal agencies, according to multiple media reports.
The decision marks a major step forward in negotiations between the Trump administration and the artificial intelligence company, which has been locked in a two-week stalemate over its latest models.
“We have worked diligently to ensure America remains a global leader and AI leader while protecting our security,” a Commerce Department spokesperson said in a statement. Reuters And Semaphore.
Anthropic said earlier this month that it had disabled access to the Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models to comply with the government’s export control directive, which cited “national security authorities.” The company said it was instructed to suspend all access to “any foreign national, whether within or outside the United States, including foreign-born Anthropic employees.”
Senior Anthropic employees flew to Washington, D.C., to meet with members of the Trump administration to find a way to get the models back online. The company told CNBC earlier this month that both parties were “working quickly to resolve this issue.”
“Since the publication of my June 12 letter, Anthropic has been working with the U.S. government to address the risks associated with Covered Models,” U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick wrote in a letter to Anthropic.
