M3 travel chaos as vehicle bursts into flames after crash on major motorway | UK | News

A section of a major highway was closed to traffic as emergency services arrived at the scene following a vehicle fire on Sunday evening. The M3 in Hampshire is closed westbound between J6 (Black Dam Junction, Basingstoke) and J7 (Dummer) due to a two-vehicle collision and subsequent vehicle fire.
Hampshire Fire Brigade is leading the response at this stage but other emergency services remain at the scene. National Highways traffic officers are also helping to strategically close the approach.
Road users traveling west are advised to follow the filled triangle symbol for the diversion route.
Leave the M3 at J6, take the 2nd exit towards Black Dam Roundabout. Take exit 1 and join the A30 (Southern Ring Road).
At the Winchester Road roundabout take the 1st exit onto Winchester Road (A30). Follow the A30 to junction M3 J7, take exit 3 and rejoin the A30 westbound.

National Highways said: “The M3 in Hampshire is closed westbound between J6 (Black Dam Junction, Basingstoke) and J7 (Dummer) due to a two vehicle collision followed by a vehicle fire which was reported at around 4pm.
“All emergency services are working at the scene and Hampshire Fire Brigade is leading the response at this stage.
“Traffic Officers are on scene and assist with strategic closures as they approach.”
